Every year, Potter Park Zoo receives many kind offers from people who would like to donate their exotic pets. We understand the concern about placing their valued pets, but the Zoo is not able to accept these pets. Please contact your local Humane Society.
Due to the fact that our facilities house significant populations of rare and endangered species, the Zoo is considered to be quarantined facility and no pets are allowed inside with the exception of guide dogs. However, dogs are allowed on the River Trail that goes through the park and around the outside of the Zoo.

We have recycling containers for aluminum cans and plastic bottles located throughout the zoo. In addition, we have tennis shoe recycling drop boxes located in the admission and parking booths.
For guests who have lost something while visiting, please contact us or call (517) 483-4222 to inquire if your item was turned in to our Welcome Center. Please include as much information as possible pertaining to your lost item including the date you lost it and your telephone number. A staff member will contact you if the item is found.

There is no smoking allowed inside the zoo.
An ATM is conveniently located in the Zoovenir shop within the Entrance Plaza.
The Zoovenir Shop offers novelties, apparel, hats, toys, plush animals, jewelry, gifts, books, postcards, souvenirs, puzzles, videos, music, interior decorations and more. For hours of operation please contact the Potter Park Zoological Society at (517) 342-2710.
The Zoo has strollers, non-motorized wheelchairs, and ADA Carts (motorized) available for rent. Wheelchairs are available at the admissions booth on a first come first serve basis – If special circumstances indicate a special need, reservations can be made: call 517-342-2765. Our Zoo Restaurant (located across from the African Lion Exhibit) offers hamburgers, cheese burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chili dogs, fries, onion rings, chicken strips, combo meals, refreshments, candy and much more. This facility offers ample covered outdoor seating.
Zoo Concessions (within the Zoo Entrance Plaza) serves a variety of snack items, including ice cream treats, hot dogs, subs, pretzels, popcorn, and refreshments. Outdoor seating is available.
A cotton candy stand (located by the Bactrian Camel exhibit) and drink vending machines are also available.

Guests who are on grounds at the Zoo who wish to leave and return the same day at no charge during open hours may have their hands stamped at the Exit Gate turnstiles.
